Grade 10 Wix Reflection

4th Quarter

  1. Unit Overview

.

In quarter 4, I was taught to understand Shakespearean language and a bit of the historical background. While learning this, I was also given comprehension and analysis tests, and engaged in many group review sessions. For work, I first completed an imagery collage of the meaning of light and darkness in the play of Macbeth, did many writing, wrote an analysis essay about Macbeth quotes. At the end of the quarter, we did a debate, debating who’s more evil, Macbeth, or Lady Macbeth. I enjoyed reading the play and enjoying the dramatic irony, as it sparks a feeling inside of me that something bad is going to happen, and yet Macbeth still does it, making us ponder about why he did what he did, was it just sheer ambition? I also enjoyed the debate in the end, as I got to argue with my friends, and the best of all, my team won (by convincing the jury that Lady Macbeth is more evil).

II. Looking forward

I’m enjoyed reading Shakespeare, but I’d rather move on to something more historical. I expect to read memoirs and historical fiction next year, as I’m more interested in the historical events. There are currently no novels I’m interested, but I’m always looking forward to the daily news. I’d like to improve my analytical writing skills, and of course, I’d love to debate some more.
