Molecular Structure and Geometry
Unit Overview: For students to learn the properties and rules of or molecular structures. They will use their knowledge in chemical bonding to draw Lewis Structures of the molecular compounds. The students will then be able to determine the molecular geometry of the compound from the Lewis Structure.
Personal Achievement: I learnt the molecular structures and geometries of many compounds and elements, all while demonstrating with the Lewis structure.
Enduring Understanding:
I learned the 3 main types of bonding
Covalent - nonmetal bonding together to share and pair their electrons
Ionic - Metals and Nonmetals giving up and taking each other's electrons to form a full octet.
Metallic - Metals bonding together to form a sea of electrons, good conductors.
Reflection on Progress Towards the Standards:
Strengths: Demonstrates the understanding of chemical bonds
Areas for Improvement: Demonstrates understanding of scientific investigation
Evidence of Work:
