WWI Reflection
Unit Overview:
This unit carries on from the unit on Imperialism to understand the causes, outcomes, and significance of WWI. For this unit students took part in extensive reading, note-taking, and discussion leading up to an open-book test.
Personal Unit Overview: What did you achieve this unit?
I achieved the knowledge of how WWI started, and how it affected the world. WWI started with many factors, including mistrust in countries, alliances, rise in nationalism, militarism, greediness of imperialism, and the politically unstable regions known as the Balkans. All it took was the Archduke of Austria, Franz Ferdinand to be assassinated in Serbia to spark Europe into war.
Enduring Understandings: How did WWI affect the world?
WWI affected the world by being a global conflict, and it also affected the world as it was giant super powers fighting each other. This meant that even the countries colonies were at war with each other. The end of the first world war effectively brought down imperialism in Europe.
Area of strength: Which standard was your strength and why?
-
Analyze and describe the causes and outcomes of World War I
I can do this well as I’ve read and understood the information regarding to the first world war.
Area of growth: Which standard needs improvement and how can you improve for the future ?
-
Uses multiple sources to synthesize and integrate information
I only read the textbook, which could give a biased view of the first world war as it was American. I also didn’t bother to study more of the content, just enough to pass the test.
Evidence: What evidence do you have of your learning?
